Importing tasks from an Excel file will help you import and create multiple tasks at the same time in a team/project. To import tasks from an Excel file, kindly follow the below instructions:
Step 1: Prepare Task file
Go to that project/team, select <...> > Import & Export > Import tasks from excel (only department/team managers have the right to operate)
Click View template to download sample file
The data file will have the following information fields:
Note :
+ Do not edit information fields, add/remove columns arbitrarily
+ Task Name : Required field
+ The Assigner, Assignee, and Follower fields will be entered according to the username of each account.
+ Tasklist: is a line with bold text, ending with a " : " (for example: Promotion:).
+ Work: normal text, no bold or special characters.
- Tasks in which group will be entered immediately below that tasklist.
- 1 task is 1 line
+ Subtasks:
- Sub-tasks need to have a " # " character before the name, the number of # characters corresponds to the level of the task.
- After the "#" character, there must be at least 1 space before entering the sub-task name.
- The order of sub-tasks when imported from Excel must be arranged in order from sub-task level 1 > level 2 > level 3...
+ Start Date/ Deadline/ Actual Completion: date fields needed to format text
+ Target: this field allows linking work with available targets in the project. If the project does not have any targets created, you can follow the instructions here .
Step 2. After having the file of the task to be imported, go back to Wework > Click on the Open form import
The screen will display this popup, click Choose file to select the task file prepared in step 1.
Step 3. Click Continue, then the screen will display the Preview of file to preview and check the data, the information columns are guaranteed to match the sample form.
In this you should pay attention to the form section:
+ The columns in the excel file must match the order of lines 1,2,3,4... in the form to ensure that the data after entering into the system is not incorrect.
+ In case the order of columns in the excel file is different from the order of the form, you can change the order of rows on the form by hovering over the 3-dash icon and dragging/dropping to the correct position.
Step 4. When the data is correct, click Import to complete the operation.
